Teaching Philosophy

The Learning Experience at CCS will focus on three key elements to intentionally prepare and equip students as responsive citizens of God’s Kingdom: IDENTITY As the foundation for all character and skill development, students will come to know their “identity in Christ”, through the holistic affirmation of their personal value and purpose, and actively pursuing their unique roles in God’s Story of redemption and renewal. A CCS student’s identity will be: Rooted in God’s Story as told through the Bible Informed by His Creation Shaped by Christ’s example A CCS student will know that they are: Loved by God Saved through Christ Equipped by the Holy Spirit A CCS student’s identity will promote a life filled with: Optimism Resilience Integrity RELATIONSHIPS Students become Christ’s active presence in the world as they live, work, and thrive in community At CCS, students will experience God’s love, and will grow in their dependence on Him and in their interdependence with others. As CCS students learn to love God more, they will grow closer to Him through guided acts of personal and communal Bible reading, study, and reflection Prayer Worship As CCS students learn to love others more, they will conduct acts of service that help them grow to be more Kind Empathetic Respectful Giving As CCS students learn to express their love for God and others more, they will be intentionally challenged to thoughtfully and caringly steward all of creation including Nature Money Culture PURPOSE Through their learning at CCS, students will be motivated to explore, discover, improve, and act upon their passions, interests, and abilities as they put their own faith into action.
